Naïve is a simply constructed wooden chair designed by Lithuanian furniture brand Emko. The chair uses six equal parts that act as legs and a backrest. This simplifies the assembly and makes production and transportation more efficient. The chair comes flat-packed in a small box and is easily assembled by screwing the six legs into a scooped ash seat.
Our starting idea was to design a chair that can be drawn by a 4 year old - a seat and six sticks. The main challenge was to combine the parts in precise angles and lengths to create comfortable sitting and a welcoming posture.
The chair can be used with and without a soft “pullover" for more comfort and is available in six colours or natural oiled ash. Besides that, the user is able to mix the colours of all parts.
