The unique lamp and planter by Toronto-based designer Ryan Taylor made its first appearance as a prototype at the Toronto Interior Design Show earlier this year. A glowing tribute to the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, one of the seven ancient wonders of the world, the innovative hand-spun aluminium light is a fascinating contemporary light fixture designed to merge the constructed with the natural. An experienced craftsman, Taylor designed the lamp with a corrosion-resistant coating and a nearly two-metre long cable for flexible mounting. The electrical components are protected from moisture by a large seal, and the lamp can safely hold up to 11 kg of soil and plants. For herbs in the kitchen or decorative greenery in the living room, this fascinating Luminary is designed to delight the senses.
